I thoroughly enjoyed taking sunset and cloud pictures this summer. God has blessed me with some amazing shots. My favorite evening was this one – the sun rays were fabulous.
Clouds and sunsets show the beauty and creativeness of God. He is a phenomenal artist and He wants to share it with us! God is so good.
Anyone who has seen my Instragram and Facebook accounts knows how much I love sunset pictures. Tonight brought a beautiful sunset, but I wasn’t able to get pictures at my favorite spot. I wanted to catch some of the beautiful color so I decided to take pictures near my home.
I love the life lessons God sends my way through my enjoyment of photography and less than ideal settings. Life has beautiful moments. I often wish for more beauty, but the mundane fills more of life. I am learning that there can be beauty along with the mundane. The houses in my neighborhood are fairly ordinary. However, when the sun is setting the ordinary houses shine. God’s beauty is never far away.
We have seen many difficulties in recent days. Situations such as the shooting in Las Vegas last week, nuclear threats, religious persecution, health struggles and let’s face it – our own selfishness can take us down a path of darkness. However, there is a light that shines bright when we choose to see. The light is Jesus Christ. When we allow God to permeate our lives, we have a light that can penetrate any darkness. So before you get too focused on the dark parts of life, focus on the light of Christ. He will take you through the dark and give light for the way.
I want to start by saying that this is no more true than, “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.” But like the saying about the grass it is a thought we believe.
I came up with this saying after hearing jealous statements about my “naturally curly” hair. I have to admit when all the right factors fall into place, I like the curls. However, it usually takes more work than some think. My usual weekday morning routine includes brushing my hair into a ponytail – the easiest option. Some days it is the only option. Naturally curly hair does NOT guarantee pretty curls. I do not wake up with pretty hair (I mean seriously?). It takes effort to make my thick mop presentable.
I believe we have mixed up thinking inside our heads about what grows on the outside of our heads. So before you think that someone else has better hair (or a better life), remember that the hair is NOT really prettier on the other girls head. God gave you the hair (life) He knows you should have. God never makes mistakes.
I have found an interesting lesson from using herbs. Many times herbs are chopped or ripped in order to release the flavor. How true is this in real life? The sweet flavor of Godly character is developed through trials. I usually feel torn through those times.
So when you feel the pain of being torn by trials, know that God is preparing something wonderful.
Those of us who grew up going to church have often heard about Jesus Christ being worthy of our worship. That is very true. Christ is the perfect Creator of all things. He deserves our glory and praise.
My concern is that we lose sight of the joy of worshipping Christ. Too often we get caught up in the difficulties that come with service to Christ (and there are many challenges). However, there are many joys. Some come as we serve Jesus. Some will wait until we stand before Him and begin our eternal time of praising Him face to face. So in this sunset picture I give Christ the praise for his worthiness and I thank Him for giving me blessings as the result of His worthiness.
God is so good.
God painted a magnificent sunset last night and allowed me to capture several photos. This is God’s beauty shining above my church building. My church is Grace Baptist. I thought of God’s grace shining in our lives as I took the picture. God gives us beautiful reminders of who He is and what He desires for our lives.
Praise His Name!
God’s love is so powerful that He gives us what we need instead of what we want despite the fact that we fight against Him.
God’s love. Perfect love. Therefore, I do not need to fear what God will give me.
LORD God (Yahweh Elohim),
I want more of You. More of who You are. More of what you offer. More of You.
Please remove the obstacles to my becoming more like You. Help me to identify the issues in my life and deal with them as You would have me. Show me Your path and give me the strength to stay on it and not stray from it. Send the people who will direct me to You every time I falter (and even when I don’t falter). Keep me safe as I deal with people who would seek to take me from Your path. Please help me to love them as You do.
Father LORD God (Abba Yahweh Elohim),
I want more of You.
Crazy you say? Yes. Socks in the fridge are a bit ridiculous. However, this is another one of my “little things” stories. I hope you can join in the fun.
This story starts with a fun surprise. A friend of mine gave me some fun socks to use as “mug hugs” (see pic below). I had talked about finding some socks for that purpose, but forgot about it. Her gift was so much fun.
A few weeks later I was looking for a way to distinguish the difference between decaf coffee and regular. I went to these fun socks. I then had the chance to send a picture text with a wisecrack about socks in the fridge (this coffee was meant to be iced so it lived in the fridge for a time). I mean who doesn’t have seeing socks in the fridge on their bucket list? (OK, no one, but that is part of the fun.) My friend laughed.
The point to this silly story (yes, there is a point) is if you have a chance to make someone laugh, go for it! The laughter will make their day and likely yours.
Laughter is the best medicine. The Bible says so (Proverbs 17:22). Give some and take some as soon as you can and as often as you can.
Just make sure the socks in the fridge are clean. 🙂
